Our core strength lies in our proprietary Software-as-a-Service embedded refund protection platform, which delivers massive distribution and a best-in-class digital purchase experience to insurance carriers, event, booking, and ticketing platforms, and consumers.

Role Overview:

As the Lead Data Scientist at Protecht, you will own all aspects of data analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives. You will be crucial in extracting meaningful insights from our data, driving data-driven strategies, and implementing cutting-edge machine learning solutions to complex business challenges. We’re seeking someone to take Protecht’s data analytics capabilities to the next level.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines to ensure data quality, consistency, availability, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data analytics solutions.
  • Engage stakeholders to present analysis and lead lively discussions about the findings.
  • Create and automate reports and dashboards to give stakeholders timely and insightful analytics.
  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to address business problems such as customer segmentation, conversion rate improvement, dynamic pricing, data labeling, and optimization.
  • Lead the end-to-end process of data exploration, feature engineering, model development, and performance evaluation.
  • Share knowledge with peers to foster a culture of continuous learning and development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5 years experience in data science, analytics, or related roles, focusing on end-to-end ownership of data projects.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (Postgres preferred) for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis working with medium-large data sets (1 million+ rows).
  • Deep expertise in programming languages such as Python and R for data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
  • Knowledge of AWS products such as RDS, Athena, DMS, Sagemaker, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and deploying machine learning models using frameworks such as TensorFlow, sci-kit-learn, or PyTorch.
  • Solid understanding of data visualization techniques and tools like Domo (preferred), Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for driving data-driven decision-making processes.
  • This is a remote position. Travel to team meetings is required as necessary. 

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience working with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Understanding of web services and web programming frameworks such as Django or Flask.
  • Certifications in data science, machine learning, or related fields.
